HR Career Framework

The HR Career Framework is a comprehensive guide to HR development and careers in the Civil Service. It provides information on HR job families, standards and has been created to align with the CIPD’s Profession Map.

The HR Career Framework (2020) is being updated for 2025, alongside the new HR Professional Standards.

Cross-government mentoring

The Government People Function can match you to mentors and mentees across government, aligned to your career goals and interests.

Cross-government mentoring is temporarily paused for 2025 while we renew our approach.

All training must be booked by 31 January 2027 and completed by 31 October 2027. Training of 12 months duration or less is available to book now on the Booking Portal. Training that is longer than 12 months may be available on a case-by-case basis, provided it is complete by 31 October 2027. Find out more about affected courses.
