Curriculum Updates
The demands of delivering modern-day public services mean that civil servants are continually asked to work in different ways, incorporating new ideas, approaches and technologies. It’s therefore vital that the training we make available to all civil servants also continues to evolve.
That’s why we’re constantly working with our consortium partners to extend and refine our training offer. As new demands are made of civil servants and their departments, we’ll keep deploying new courses and programmes to help develop the skills needed to meet those emerging demands.
Cross Civil Service
What is National Security?
This course is designed to provide you with a comprehensive understanding of the different aspects of national security. It will help you to realise the implications that national security has for your role and the contribution you can make towards protecting it. Aimed at all civil servants, regardless of grade or role, the course will help you develop the skills and knowledge required to be part of a concerted effort to strengthen our national security posture.

Safeguarding
Safeguarding is a vital process that protects children, young people, adults and the unborn from harm, abuse and neglect. It also serves to promote inclusivity, to prevent crime and exploitation and to foster trust. With robust safeguarding measures in place, we can deliver public services in a way that protects all the people we come into contact with. That’s why it’s so important that all civil servants can recognise the signs of a possible safeguarding issue and be confident in knowing how to respond appropriately. This course is designed to improve awareness of safeguarding roles and responsibilities across the Civil Service.

New Recruitment Courses : Now Open for Bookings
Securing the right person with the right skills for the right role is vital for any organisation. That’s why a whole suite of new recruitment courses has now launched for Civil Service recruiters or those who undertake recruiting tasks. These courses will help you develop the skills required to recruit effectively - and in a fair, consistent and transparent manner. These courses cover the entire recruitment process from writing job descriptions through to interviewing and assessing candidates. As well as guidance on how best to use our Success Profiles framework, they provide valuable insights into recruitment best practice and the importance of getting recruitment right.
New Management Programme Now Available: Senior Practitioner
With its focus on developing line management capability within the Civil Service, the Senior Practitioner programme is aimed at senior managers at grades 6 and 7 and deputy directors. It aims to equip managers with the skills they need, not just to manage their teams, but also to deliver excellent citizen outcomes and to make effective use of all available resources. Two recurring themes of inclusion and hybrid ways of working in government are woven into the programme’s design – which also prioritises action learning over management theory. The programme is delivered over the course of five months and features four training modules, each of which contains an all-day facilitated workshop.
