The IOSH General Risk Assessment course is a two-day interactive workshop designed for individuals responsible for conducting or reviewing risk assessments within their organisation. This course provides participants with a comprehensive understanding of risk assessment principles, equipping them with the skills to identify hazards, evaluate risk levels, and implement appropriate control measures. Through a combination of facilitator-led presentations, group discussions, and practical exercises, delegates will explore key topics such as workplace hazards, risk prioritisation techniques, and legal requirements, including the Health and Safety at Work Act 1974 and associated regulations. The course also covers risk assessment methodologies, the use of risk matrices, and the importance of effective risk recording. Participants will engage in real-world case studies, hazard spotting exercises, and a site-based risk assessment to apply their learning in a practical setting.

Delegates will also gain insight into auditing and reviewing risk assessments, ensuring continuous improvement in workplace safety. The course introduces the concept of dynamic risk assessments, helping individuals make real-time decisions when faced with evolving hazards. To support learning, delegates will take part in a mock exam before undertaking the final IOSH assessment, which consists of both theoretical and practical evaluations. Successful participants will receive an IOSH Certificate in Risk Assessment, validating their ability to conduct and manage risk assessments effectively. By the end of the course, delegates will have a clear understanding of their legal responsibilities, risk management strategies, and the skills to contribute to a safer working environment.

The exam platform is paper based for face to face courses and on Moodle for virtual courses.
