Off the shelf (OTS)
This one-day training course provides delegates with the skills necessary to write an effective evidential statement. The training focusses on how to write evidential statements and how to give evidence. It looks at how staff can break down the information available to them, identify what, if anything, is relevant to the tribunal/court etc. and, what evidence they could present to a court. It also provides the opportunity for attendees to write a statement, with feedback on those statements.
This course would be suitable for anyone required to write evidential statements.
Learning Objectives:
1) State the reasons for writing an evidential statement
2) Identify a simple statement form and its contents
3) Explore identification issues in the context of ADVOKATE principles
4) Identify the evidence required in a statement and its basic structure
5) Explain how exhibits should be documented and referred to
6) Identify simple disclosure principles.
7) Write a structured evidential statement relating to a simple offence.
