Overview

Off the shelf (OTS)

This three-day course is aimed at officers and staff responsible for interviewing suspects in criminal investigations. It focuses on developing the skills, mindset, and legal awareness required to plan and conduct effective, ethical, and evidence-led suspect interviews.

Delegates will explore how to apply the PEACE model in the suspect context, including how to challenge inconsistencies, manage legal rights and representation, and use disclosure strategically. The course places emphasis on accurate planning, structured questioning, and legally sound recording practices — all essential for building strong cases and securing reliable evidence.

Through practical exercises, case studies, and guided role play, delegates will strengthen their confidence and competence in managing suspect interviews across a range of offence types and suspect behaviours.
