The Cross-Examination Day is a follow-on course to the Courtroom Skills Training. The day involves intensive cross-examination experience which enables public sector experts to refine and enhance their evidence giving performance, and gain mastery of their presentation.
The course begins with a brief recap of key court skills. Then each expert is cross-examined on one of their own reports, once in the morning and once in the afternoon. The second cross-examination is video-recorded. For delegates undertaking the Cardiff University Bond Solon (CUBS) or University of Aberdeen Bond Solon (UABS) Expert Witness Certificate, this recording will be submitted to the respective Law School for assessment; experts not working toward the certificate can keep their recording.
Please note, if you are planning on working towards achieving the CUBS or UABS Certificate, we recommend you undertake this course at least 2-3 months after attending the Excellence in Report Writing course.
Successful completion of this course requires access an external online assessment. The online assessment platform may not be accessible from Civil Service department IT due to security restrictions. If you have any questions or believe you may be impacted by these restrictions, please contact support@governmentcampus.co.uk.
