ACFTech - Accredited Counter Fraud Technician (Northumbria University/Counter Fraud Professional Awarding Body Accredited)

This course is open to UK, EU and international individuals working in the field of fraud prevention and investigation, or looking to develop a career in the area. No prior entry requirements.

The Accredited Counter Fraud Technician (ACFTech) is designed to develop counter fraud support personnel, such as technicians or analysts, and for anyone whose role it is to conduct investigations or provide support to larger, more serious case investigations. The programme itself is accredited by the Counter Fraud Professional Awards Board (CFPAB) and has been approved by Northumbria University.
In the UK, CFPAB awards are commonly recognised as a benchmark for the attainment of professional skills and knowledge in the field of counter fraud. Nowadays, employers in both the public and private sectors frequently cite CFPAB awards as a mandatory requirement when advertising counter fraud roles.

The main objective of the ACFTech certification is to provide learners with a comprehensive introduction to counter fraud, including prevention, detection, and investigation. The course also provides a strong foundation of understanding for those who may wish to further their studies and go on to complete the recognised ACFS qualification.

This course includes:
• An introduction to the key legislation, the civil and criminal justice system and policies relevant to countering fraud within an organisation
• Provides learners with the foundational guidelines for effective report writing, case management and interviewing.
• Upon completion learners will understand the principles of undertaking an ethical investigation throughout it’s various and key stages.

This course contains assessments and observed practical exercises. Total estimated time to complete is c56 hours split between the 4 full tutor led days online teaching and independent study to complete any pre/post unit reading and assignments.

Successful completion of this course requires access an external online assessment. The online assessment platform may not be accessible from Civil Service department IT due to security restrictions.
