CPD for Coaches (Techniques): Teaching Mindfulness
-
Recognise parallel process and use your own emotional, cognitive and relational responses as data to make informed hypotheses about the wider system your client is operating within
-
Analyse how feedback loops, polarity and emergence create self-reinforcing patterns that resist linear intervention, and explain when increased effort may intensify rather than resolve difficulty
-
Identify invisible structures shaping behaviour and decision-making (e.g., habitus, culture, unwritten rules and leverage points) and reflect on how these structures influence your own responses and interventions as a coach.
Overview
Off the shelf (OTS)
Your client does not exist in a vacuum, and neither do you. The moment you enter a client's system, you are already participating in it. Assumptions, roles, emotional tone, pace, and unspoken rules begin to shape what you notice, how you respond, and what becomes possible in the conversation. This session introduces systems thinking as a core lens for coaching, shifting attention from isolated events to pattern, relationship, and context.
