Overview

Off the shelf (OTS)

1) Target Audience
This course is designed for software developers and engineers who want to integrate AI tools into their everyday coding workflow to improve productivity, code quality, and delivery speed. It is suited to developers working in any language who are new to AI-assisted development and want to adopt these tools confidently and responsibly.

2) Pre-requisites
A working knowledge of at least one programming language is required. No prior experience with AI coding tools is needed.

3) Course Description
This course shows developers how to apply AI tools across the full development lifecycle — from writing and debugging code to testing and documentation. Delegates develop the ability to work with AI as a collaborative tool while maintaining full control, understanding, and responsibility for their codebase, and how to critically evaluate AI-generated output for quality, security, and maintainability.

4) Objectives / Topic Areas
• Generating, refactoring, and optimising code using AI tools from natural language prompts
• Accelerating debugging by diagnosing errors, interpreting stack traces, and identifying fixes
• Automating documentation, unit testing, and repetitive development tasks
• Improving code quality through AI-driven reviews, best practices, and security checks
• Integrating AI tools into IDEs, version control workflows, and CI/CD pipelines
• Responsible AI practices: validation, security awareness, and risk management

5) Delivery Format
Delivered over one day (7 hours) via virtual instructor-led sessions using Microsoft Teams or Zoom, with practical demonstrations and hands-on exercises throughout.
