This 3-day hands-on workshop is designed for internal L&D professionals, communications teams, and content creators who want to develop practical filmmaking skills. No prior video production experience is required - just enthusiasm for visual storytelling and a willingness to learn by doing.
Course Description
In today's learning landscape, visual storytelling drives engagement, understanding, and impact. This intensive workshop brings professional film expertise directly to your team, giving participants the practical skills, confidence, and shared language to produce high-quality learning content internally.
The workshop covers the complete video production workflow from concept to finished content. You'll gain hands-on experience with professional equipment including cameras, sound equipment, and Adobe Premiere Pro. You'll learn to identify which video formats work best for different learning purposes - whether interviews, mini-documentaries, or instructional content—and understand the complete production workflow and roles on set.
Day 1 – Theory & Planning
Introduction to on-set roles and production workflow
Types of learning videos and when to use each format
Planning, scripting, and storyboarding fundamentals to structure learning content effectively
Storytelling principles and shot types to create engaging visual narratives
Day 2 – Production
Morning: Plan a short interview or learning video in small groups (maximum 6 per group)
Afternoon: Hands-on filming exercise with participants rotating through production roles (producer, director, camera operator, sound technician) to understand each perspective
Indoor and outdoor shooting with lighting basics to achieve professional-looking results in various environments
Directing techniques and interviewing skills to capture authentic, engaging content from subject matter experts
Day 3 – Post-Production
Editing session in Adobe Premiere Pro with guidance from professional editors to shape raw footage into polished learning content
Group screening and instructor feedback
Throughout the workshop, a Senior Producer and Assistant Producer provide training and on-the-spot coaching. Participants can observe or actively edit depending on their prior experience.
By the end of the programme, you'll have a shared language for commissioning and managing video projects, enabling more effective collaboration with internal and external production teams. You'll also understand clear pathways for continued skill development beyond the workshop, including advanced training options and ongoing support structures.
