Overview
Off the shelf (OTS)
Trauma can manifest in many different ways, and throughout our professional journeys, we are likely to encounter individuals who have been affected by traumatic experiences. These experiences can influence a person’s behaviour, emotional responses, attitudes, and overall well-being. It is essential that we approach such interactions with a clear understanding of trauma’s impact, enabling us to support individuals safely, respectfully, and compassionately.
By deepening our understanding of trauma, we can embed best practices into our daily work and foster an organisational culture that prioritises safety, empathy, and inclusivity. Adopting trauma-informed approaches ensures that workplaces are not only physically safe but also psychologically supportive. This approach benefits everyone — from clients and service users to staff and colleagues.
This one-day training course equips participants with practical strategies to recognise the signs and effects of trauma, helping to build a foundation of trauma-informed care across the organisation. It also focuses on protecting staff from secondary traumatic stress, including vicarious trauma, compassion fatigue, and burnout.
The aim of the course is to empower participants with the knowledge, awareness, and confidence to understand trauma and its risk factors. The course will support the development of trauma-informed practices within the workplace and promote essential self-care strategies to maintain emotional resilience.
