About this course
The new Level 5 Diploma in Teaching provides teacher status in the post-16 and adult teaching sector.
The course consists of eleven units; Learners must achieve all mandatory units.:
1. Pedagogic methodologies and curriculum development in further education
2. Understanding learners and educational practices in further education
3. Professionalism and inclusive teaching practices in further education
4. Promoting equality, diversity and inclusion in further education
5. Partnership working and collaboration in further education
6. Assessment principles and practice in further education
7. Resource development and management for effective learning in further education
8. Teaching practice in further education
9. Behaviour management in further education
10. Professional development and reflective practice in further education
11. Digital pedagogies for teaching and learning in further education
Learners must produce a portfolio of evidence comprising written assessments and practical teaching evidence.
They must log 150 hours of teaching practice, including ten lesson observations.
There is no exam, the qualification is assessed through a portfolio of evidence, observed teaching practice and a professional discussion, with no written exams, making it a fully practice-based, pass/fail qualification.
Each learner is required to be observed ten times in their teaching role. This is often carried out by colleagues internally with teacher status.

Pre-requisites
Current practitioner able to log 150 hours of teaching.

English and Maths GCSE Grade C or Level 2 Literacy and Numeracy.
