Overview
Off the shelf (OTS)
This session is designed for senior leaders and experienced managers who want to strengthen their ability to communicate with confidence, clarity and candour in complex or uncertain environments. It will be of particular interest to those responsible for leading teams, influencing stakeholders and communicating change. No formal prerequisites are required, though the session is best suited to participants with leadership or management experience.
This short taster introduces key ideas from the one-day workshop Leading with Confidence and Candour. It explores the skills required to communicate openly and credibly while maintaining engagement and trust across teams and stakeholders. Participants will consider how confidence, resilience, energy and empathy support effective leadership communication, particularly when outcomes are uncertain or when difficult messages need to be shared.
The session introduces the concept of “confident uncertainty” — remaining calm, connected and constructive when answers are not yet clear or when decisions are evolving.
Participants will explore:
communicating with candour while maintaining trust and engagement
speaking up with confidence in challenging or uncertain situations
encouraging progress and resilience when teams face change
maintaining connection and empathy when outcomes are unclear
This is a practical and interactive taster session that includes facilitated exercises, small-group discussion and a question-and-answer segment. It provides an overview of the themes and approaches covered in the full one-day workshop.
