Overview

Off the shelf (OTS)

People from underrepresented groups in organisations face numerous social, personal, and organisational obstacles to developing their career and fulfilling their potential. Creating an inclusive culture is everyone's responsibility. The Power of Choice programme, designed and delivered by Korn Ferry, supports and challenges participants to own their personal and professional development and unleash their potential. It also supports and challenges the participants’ managers to understand and fully own the critical role that they play in developing their colleagues and removing and minimising the barriers they experience.

Tailored to a particular underrepresented group and their unique personal and workplace experiences, the programme consists of six half day sessions for participants and a 2-hour ‘Reconnection session’ at the end of the programme that can be run consecutively or spread out over a longer period. The ‘Reconnection’ session offers time and space for the cohort to reconnect, share progress and celebrate successes. It is an opportunity for participants from the programme to tell their impact stories and to hear their colleagues' stories.

Managers on the programme attend their own 1 - 1.5-hour sessions for their learning and development. These include a session on inclusive leadership and sessions to connect with their colleague to develop a shared development plan through a series of facilitated one-to-one career development conversations.

At the end of the programme, participants will have a new sense of community and belonging and will feel more purposeful and intentional about their personal growth and development. They will have developed ways to drive their career and overcome headwinds getting in their way. Managers attending the programme will develop their understanding of the challenges that underrepresented talent faces in general as well as the specific challenges their direct report experiences. They will have learned new approaches to support their own development and develop the mindset and skillset of an inclusive leader. Everyone on the programme will leave with stronger relationships and a broader support network.
