The Strategic Thinking course is based on the unique Strategic Space Model which is :
• Rooted in the Treasury’s own approach to Strategy and Risk management;
• Informed by the best Incident Command theory as applied through the Civil Contingencies Framework and current public sector best practice on working in complex systems;
Tested and developed through application with a wide range of public sector clients.
It is aimed at middle to senior managers in policy and strategy functions.
Objectives are:
1. To explore the function of Strategy and Strategic Thinking within the Public Sector Organisation and to critically assess their own context;
2. To understand how Complexity informs the Public Sector Context and guides our strategic response to ensure that the approaches we adopt are suited to our specific situation and wider system;
3. To introduce and apply a bespoke toolkit of strategic thinking and systems tools (including, but not limited to Scenario Planning, Systems Mapping, Problem Definition, Policy Adaptation.)
