Overview
Off the shelf (OTS)
This is a half day course aimed at those new to the Civil Service who want to know the rules and guidelines around the Civil Service Code. It is open to all professions.
The course will cover the code principles of ‘ Integrity’ ‘Objectivity’ and ‘ Impartiality’. Particular rules and considerations in relation to public funds and links to other laws eg The Equality Act.
The second half of the day will explore the Code in practice including the following topics:
• Balancing Evidence and Risk
• Raising and Registering Concerns
• Upward Influencing
• Preparing for conversations with senior officials and Ministers.
The course will be interactive involving group exercises and case study based work.
Learning Objectives:
• To build familiarity with the tenets of the Civil Service Code
• To know how the Civil Service Code links with other rules and laws
• To explore applying the code in practice.
