Overview

Cross Civil Service

Every policy or organisational change affects real people. Equality Impact Assessments (EQIAs) help ensure those changes lead to fair opportunities and more positive outcomes for all – our colleagues, individual citizens and wider communities alike.
For policy developers or change leads at every level, this course will enable you to recognise when an EQIA is needed and how to carry it out effectively – turning equality principles into practical action. Through relatable scenarios and interactive learning, the course takes you step by step through the key stages. From gathering evidence and engaging stakeholders to governance and reporting, you'll gain the confidence to spot the pitfalls and challenges and embed inclusive thinking into everyday decision-making.

Within our Civil Service, ensuring equality is a responsibility we share across all roles and departments. This course will ensure you understand the legal and moral obligations, including the Public Sector Equality Duty (PSED), and the purpose and value of EQIAs as an integral part of ongoing organisational and policy change to drive positive real-world outcomes for society and continue strengthening public trust in our Civil Service. Please refer to the course flyer for a full description of the learning.
