Public servants face complex problems every day — from improving community services to shaping national policy to coordinating global priorities.

This course will help you recognise and frame complex challenges in ways that lead to more effective responses. You’ll learn practical approaches to re-examine problems from fresh angles, involve the people affected and open up a wider range of impactful solutions. Real-world government examples will show how these approaches can be applied in practice.

If you work in public service, whatever your role or level of seniority, and you’re looking for fresh frameworks to address tough challenges, this course is for you. No prior expertise is needed. You’ll leave with insights you can use to improve problem solving in your role and a certificate of completion to show for it. Throughout the course, you’ll take part in activities to support the application of your new knowledge, rather than taking a formal assessment.
