Overview
Off the shelf (OTS)
The course is designed to update and refresh the skills of people who have previously attended mental Health First Aid training. Refresher training is recommended every three years in line with physical first aid to ensure MHF Aiders are fulfilling their role safely.
The course will refresh attendees’ knowledge of:
• Mental health and what influences it
• How to recognise the main signs of mental ill health
• How to provide initial help
• How to guide the person toward appropriate professional help
• How to be mindful of their own mental health
The MHFA Refresher course takes four hours to complete and will enable learners to:
• Keep their knowledge, awareness, and skills of mental health support current
• Update their knowledge of mental health and what influences it
• Practice applying the Mental Health First Aid action plan
Once you have completed your MHFA Refresher course, you will be certified for three years and will be invited to become or stay a member of our Association of Mental Health First Aiders – making sure you have everything you need to feel confident when supporting others.
Learners will be given temporary access to the MHFAider Support App® for the duration of their course.
