Cross Civil Service

This digital course has been designed to improve your knowledge of the EU’s core principles and institutions. It will help you understand the context within which the Civil Service operates as we continue to support the evolving relationship between the UK and the EU.

The course will introduce you to what the EU is, why it exists, and how it works. You’ll explore the EU’s origins and founding principles; the role and functions of its major institutions, the different types of EU law, and its legislative process. An overview of the single market is also provided, looking at the free movement provisions which are a central tenet of the EU. You’ll also find out how EU budgets are agreed and hear about the role the EU plays on the global stage.

Please refer to the course flyer for a full description of the learning.
