Overview

Cross Civil Service

Working in the Civil Service means using taxpayers’ money in the best possible way. That’s why our finance colleagues are important partners in the strategy and planning phases of our work. Understanding how they operate is therefore an important step towards making more financially astute decisions.

This course introduces you to the processes used to control finances across all departments and how this affects the work we do. You’ll learn about basic financial strategies, management tools and accounting processes. This will help to highlight the importance of monthly to annual finance cycles, financial statements and the role played by auditors, such as the National Audit Office.
